Grad students are normally poor, so with the economy like it is today they’ve now reached a status just a small step above homeless. These simple tips should keep you off the streets with enough spare change to grab a beer every once in a while:
- Rent text books or buy them used. Under no circumstances pay full price at the university book store
- Don’t eat out. Cook, eat leftovers, or make ramen.
- Return can and bottles for the full deposit. You can really pocket some decent change doing this.
- Become a tutor for undergraduate students in your subject.
- Become a teachers assistant.
- Become a research assistant.
- Get a part time job at a local business.
- Start your own at home business, like a website for example.
- Shop for clothes at Goodwill. You can actually find some pretty solid stuff.
- Walk or ride a bike to class instead of driving.
